About

I (he/him) am a Self-employed, Métis, Species-At-Risk Researcher specialising in insects! I focused on the larval foraging behaviour of the endangered Poweshiek Skipperling during my MSc degree (2022 from University of Winnipeg, Canada; Henault and Westwood 2022, Henault and Westwood 2023) and have since conducted monitoring and status-assessment work under contracts with governments and non-profits (including Environment and Climate Change Canada, Nature Conservancy of Canada). I avidly volunteer for conservation efforts, such as with the Poweshiek Skipperling International Partnership (currently a Co-Chair of the Science Support Team) and recently with the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (Early Career Member) and IUCN SSC Butterfly and Moth Specialist Group. I eagerly communicate research with articulate visualisations, and seek to empower and create opportunities for local community members and underrepresented communities where I am able to. Please explore the respective pages, my most recent CV. I would also be happy to send my teaching dossier by request.
Thanks to the historical, current and future stewards of the areas in which I conducted research, especially those who identify as Indigenous. Also, to peers, mentors, and everyone who has helped along the way.
Feel free to use any images, as long as I am credited and they are used for knowledge mobilisation or education purposes.
